Prom

I had my Prom last week which surprisingly I really enjoyed. Sorry this post is a little-late! On the day I got my hair done (which was a tad of a disaster) however we managed to sort it out and I was happy with the end result. I also did my own nails and make up to keep things the way I wanted them and also its cheaper! My dress was a beautiful aubergine colour which I never thought would suit me but did.
I never thought I would enjoy Prom and almost expected it to be disappointing. However it was a lovely night to spend with my friends saying goodbye to High School. We even had a lovely meal and there were awards given and music towards the end! People danced (and I might have to!)

I'm really glad I chose to go to Prom and I will look fondly on all the pictures and memories from this night. What was your prom like?

Posts, shopping, nandos // June

June is already over that's crazy!

This month has been the start of Summer (Finally free!) and a spendy one when I think about it. My excuse? Its a post exam reward. I bought a pair of jeans from Topshop and some trousers from Primark. The trousers and jeans are super comfy and the patterns are just fab (as you can see from the pictures above, where you can spot them.)

I also bought some Makeup - prom preparation- ,just some cheeky Boots purchases. The Solar Powder which everyone seems to talk about had to be included within my haul. Maybe a review if you guys would be interested? My lovely mum also bought me a Ted Baker make up bag. Something I have had my eye on for some time. Its soo pretty and I've already received some compliments on it which is always a good sign.

I have also been able to spend lots of time with my friends and family this month due to having no school and no stress over Exams! But I have also been wasting a little time to- the bliss of not having seven o'clock alarms set. So I have been maybe guilt eating, that might have included Nandos which btw was tasty! Its been nice just to relax and spend some time having a laugh and being care-free.

Once again the month has gone incredibly quickly and I'm glad all my exams are done and dusted. Here's to July! Prom is tomorrow and I have my holiday in two weeks so July should be an exciting month. What are you looking forward to next month?

Bye all.

new in// Prom Makeup

Prom is next Thursday wow that's gone quickly! It still feels like it should be months and months away but its literally just round the corner. Of course as a beauty fanatic I found an excuse to go buy more make up! I plan to do all my own make up for Prom as I know it will then look exactly the way I want it to and I wont feel uncomfortable.

I picked up the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, this was a repurchase as I just love this foundation. Usually I don't repurchase things as I like to try different products however for Prom I thought I would go with something reliable. The Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch, also a repurchase as its an amazing highlighting concealer. It has a less thicker consistency than the Collection concealer. Lastly I picked up the solar powder from Soap and Glory which I have heard many good things about...

Have you had your prom yet or is it just around the corner?

patterned jeans | OOTD

I usually really dislike Jeans but fell in love with these tile patterned ones from Topshop. I must admit they were a bit of a splurge at a teeth grinding £40 but worth every penny! Of course I have seen the likes of Vivianna and Zoe wearing these and just couldn't resist! (If you were wondering my top is also from Topshop!) They are a nice change and are part of the Leigh range! I know these will be a good investment. Outfit posts are a little out of my comfort zone but hey ho fun to do so maybe I will post a few more of these in the future..

They are comfortable, flattering and perfect for summer! This is England so the days aren't always hot enough to brave bare legs. Have you made any sneaky purchases recently?

travelling 101- make up

ted baker make up bag £22

Guess who's back? back again. I'm really sorry for not posting in so long but should be back now as all my exams are over! exciting stuff woo!

So I recently bought a new make up bag from Ted Baker which is super duper pretty (and pink of course!) which was a small post-exam treat especially as it was in the sale so that's a bonus. I'm going to Portugal in July and I thought I would show you some of the things I plan to take with me. My They're Real Mascara which has always been a firm fav. The Mac Paint Pot in Painterly, perfect as a base. The Sleek Contour Kit which is the perfect contouring essential. The NYX blush in Angel, a beautiful shade as the name suggests. Finally the perfect face combo the Nivea Primer and the YSL Touche Eclat.

Are you going on holiday this year?...

One year anniversary for blogging!

On May 21st 2013 I started my blog Curls and Comets. I can't believe how quickly this year has gone and I have learnt so much about blogging. I have to admit it hasn't been easy and at times I have felt extremely negative about my blog and considered deleting it but I have stuck it out. I'm trying to reinvent my blog at the moment and after taking my GCSE's (only four more to go as I have done eleven now!) I will be up and running again. I can't believe in the space of a year a combination of over 300 people follow and read my blog! Which is crazy to me when you first start you don't expect one follower let alone 300!

I think people can underestimate how much work is put into creating a blog, updating it and getting it out there. It's not so easy just to gain 500 followers! I am so happy I started blogging and have learnt a lot about make up and clothes and I would recommend anyone to do it! I can't wait to see how my blog grows in the next year as I start college and learn to drive! (things are moving so fast!) Thank you for reading my blog, leaving lovely comments and always being there for a chat. I love the blogging community and am happy to be apart of it.

pastels- spring ready!

Spring is officially here which means its closer to Summer (and sun and all things hot!) I thought I would show you some nail polish picks for Spring which are my personal favourites. I love nail polishes as they can brighten up an outfit and make you look alot more tanned than you actually are. I have built up a list of my spring nail picks, items that I love. (L-R Essie- Mint Candy Apple, Barry M- Lychee, Models Own- Blueberry Muffin, Essie- Bikini so Teeny)

thinking pink- beauty buys

I think there is some sort of theme going on here? I love pink make up products: pink eyeshadows, pink blushers, pink lipsticks and the list goes on. Why do I like pinks so much? Well not only are they the most flattering, they also suit me the most (or that I'm scared of reds and purples!) I can't tell you how long I've wanted a YSL lipstick! They are beautiful, luxurious and classy. The only thing is that they are quite very expensive. I think I might regret this purchase for a little...

I also wanted to pick up something from NYX seeing as the closest one is an hour and a half away. I picked up the shade 'Angel' which is compared to the Estee Lauder blush in Tease which came out last Summer (I really regret not getting my hands on that)

(I'm trying a new theme, what do you think? I would love your opinions, I am trying to find a niche as I am simply not happy with my blog at the moment! Which is half the reason why I haven't been uploading- apart from Exams of course)

editing blog photos

Something which I think is really important on a blog is making sure to have relatively good pictures. That doesn't mean you have to pay for a fancy Canon camera or for editing software like Photoshop. Having a DSLR is going to improve the quality of your photos and is worth the investment but they are expensive. There are simple ways to get around spending money. I am not in the slightest a expert and when I first started my blog I played around with using different effects to see what worked best for me. Zoella who I'm sure all of you know wrote a blog post talking about blog photography which you can find here. This is extremely helpful however I find it difficult to find blog posts which talk about simple and easy ways to edit their photos. I have experimented and found something which is free and makes your photos appear brighter and clearer. I take my blog pictures with the Canon EOS 1100D however when I first started blogging I just used my Iphone 4.

This website is called Ribbet. (www.ribbet.com) its completely free and you don't even have to sign up if you don't want to. It comes with the usual fonts, collage and editing options. If you want access to all areas of the site you do need to pay for a membership but this isn't necessary for what I'm suggesting. In the Basic Edits section you will find 'Exposure' you can edit the 'Exposure' , 'Highlights' , 'Shadows' and 'Contrasts.' When editing my photos I usually tweak the Exposure, Highlights and Contrast. I raise the Contrast and Highlight slightly to usually 3 or 4. With the exposure I tend to raise it up until around 15 until I have the desired effect I want.

The top two images are completely unedited and have no effects on them whereas I have edited the bottom two images. As you can see the intensity of brightness on the bottom left hand picture is more brighter than the right. This sort of effect is something which is used very often on Instagram where the exposure is quite high. I would more than likely chose the right hand picture as the picture is clearer and the exposure is much lower in comparison. I think editing photos can make such a difference to the way a photo can look. It can also make it appear so much more girly and appropriate to brighten up your blog.

Creating these effects are so simple and easy to replicate and I hope this helped with anyone who struggles or doesn't know how to edit photos!
